Who I Am and What I Care About
My name is Jason Stambaugh and I’m a husband, father, follower of Jesus, former fat kid, accidental techie, and founder of Wevival and Shop My Church. Wevival is a social media, marketing, and web strategy firm I started in 2009 to help businesses and non-profits use the best-of-the-web to build and grow their organizations.
I firmly believe that every organization is sustained by relationships. This is particularly important for the Church. It’s not your facilities, programs, and operating budget that matter. It’s the people. Social media offers churches new ways to connect, build, and sustain life changing relationships. The stronger the relationships, the greater the ministry impact.
Social media is and will continue to be an indispensable ministry and outreach medium. Generation Y (Millienials) now outnumber Baby Boomers and 96% of them have at least one social media account. If the Church is serious about reaching, teaching, and discipling this (my) generation, it needs to fully embrace social media.
Heart Your Church
This blog is about love for the Church first and social media second. As a Millenial, I openly profess my love of the Church. I certainly have my fair share of complaints, but I firmly believe that God is using the local Church to change the world. Many in my generation are running away, but I hope they will reconsider. Everyday I aim to share my story, confirming that God matters, faith matters, and the Church matters. I invite you all to do the same.
My goal is to blog here three days a week about church marketing, outreach and ministry in the social media era. In the mix you will find church marketing ideas, church growth ideas, church outreach ideas, church marketing strategies, church growth strategies, church outreach strategies and of course, practical social media tips. If you want to figure out how to use social media for ministry, please join me on the Heart Your Church journey.
